KeepSolid Crypto Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 10, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains what information KeepSolid Inc. (“KeepSolid”, “KeepSolid Crypto”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects about users (“you” or “User”), how we use and share that information, and your rights in relation to that information. This Privacy Policy applies exclusively to all personal data we

collect through your use of this website, KeepSolid’s VPNU utility token program, any associated blockchain-based features and related services (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal data collected in relation to use of KeepSolid's applications, software, or services such as VPN Unlimited, Passwarden, SmartDNS, MonoDefense, or any other KeepSolid products. Those services are governed by a separate Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy is a part of and is incorporated into KeepSolid Crypto Terms of Use.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide to us directly, information automatically collected about your use of our Services, and information from third parties (such as payment processors) as needed.

1.1 Information You Provide Directly:

  • Account Registration Data: When you create a KeepSolid account (KeepSolid ID) or use our Services, you provide personal information such as your email address, and password. We may also ask for your name, username or other identifier. For business accounts, we may collect company name and contact details of account administrators.
  • Profile and Transaction Data: If you purchase our utility Tokens or other services, we record details of those transactions. This can include the amount of Tokens purchased, transaction ID or order number, date and time of purchase, and the cryptocurrency wallet address or account used for the transaction. Note: We do not collect your private keys or full payment card details when using third-party processors, but we may receive confirmation that a payment was completed.
  • Identity Verification (KYC) Data: Payments for KeepSolid utility Tokens may be processed through third-party providers (such as Coinbase Commerce). These providers may require identity verification (KYC) as part of their compliance obligations. KeepSolid is not responsible for the KYC process conducted by third-party payment processors, but we may receive confirmation that the KYC process was completed.
  • Communications and Support: If you contact us for support or with inquiries (via email, chat, or phone), you may provide personal data such as your contact information, and the content of your communications. We will keep records of our correspondence with you. Similarly, if you participate in surveys, promotions, or provide feedback, we collect the information you choose to provide.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically: When you use our Services, we and our third-party analytics partners automatically collect certain data about your device and activity:

  • Device and Usage Information: We collect data about the devices you use to access the Services, it may include IP address (during your active session), device type, operating system version, browser type, and device identifiers. We also may collect information about your use of the Services, such as the features you used, errors encountered, and referral URL (which site or ad led you to our site).
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies, web beacons, pixels, and similar tracking technologies (collectively “Cookies”) to collect information about your interactions with our Services. This includes your preferences and settings (to remember your language or layout choices), analytics data (to understand how users navigate through our site), and potentially information for advertising. Cookie data may include unique cookie IDs, pages visited, actions on our site, and timestamps. For detailed info on our use of cookies and how to manage them, please see our Cookies Policy

1.3 Information from Third Parties:

  • Payment Processors: If you make payments via third-party platforms (like Coinbase Commerce or other payment gateways), we receive information from them to identify your transaction. For example, Coinbase may send us confirmation that a payment was made, along with details such as your Coinbase transaction ID, the cryptocurrency used, amount, and time
of payment. We use this to credit your account with Tokens or Services. We do not receive your financial account numbers or private keys from these processors. Please note, your interaction with any payment provider is also governed by their privacy policy
  • Analytics Providers: We may use analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) that may collect information via cookies and reporting tools. These providers give us aggregated statistics (for instance, user demographics and usage patterns). The information received is generally anonymized or aggregated; if any personal data is involved (like IP addresses), we take measures to pseudonymize or mask it where possible (Google Analytics, for example, can IP anonymization).
  • Advertising Partners: (If applicable) If we partner with third-party advertising networks, they may provide us with information on ad performance and interactions. As of the last update of this Policy, KeepSolid is not using targeted advertising for the Token platform, but if tthat changes, this Policy will be updated accordingly.
  • Referral or Social Media: If you arrive at KeepSolid Services via a referral link or sign in through a social media account (if we offer such sign-in), we might receive basic profile information of yours from that third party, with your consent. For example, signing in with Google or Apple would share your name and email with us. Or if there was a referral/affiliate code, we would note who referred you (but that generally involves minimal personal data,
perhaps an ID code).

1.4 Sensitive Personal Data: We do not intentionally collect any sensitive personal data (such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health, or biometric data) unless required by law. We ask that you do not voluntarily provide us with sensitive data. If you do provide it (e.g., in a support
request), you consent to our processing of that data for the purpose of handling your request

2. How We Use Your Information

KeepSolid uses personal information for the following purposes, in accordance with applicable legal bases:

2.1 To Provide and Maintain the Services (Performance of a Contract):  We process your personal data to create and manage your account, to provide you with the features of our platform (such as managing your Token balance or facilitating transactions), and to authenticate you when you log in. For example, we use your email and password to log you in securely. If you purchase Tokens or Services, we use the transaction data to fulfill your order – i.e., to issue the appropriate number of Tokens to your account or wallet. Without this information, we cannot perform the contract with you or provide the requested services.

2.2 To Process Transactions and Payments (Performance of Contract & Legal Obligations): We use payment and transaction information to process your purchases or sales of Tokens. For instance, if you buy Tokens through any payment provider, we use the confirmation from the payment provider to know when to credit Tokens to you. We keep records of these transactions as required for internal accounting and to comply with financial regulations (where applicable). Processing payments may involve sharing data with payment intermediaries, as described in Section 3. We may also use transaction histories to handle refunds (if applicable) or resolve disputes.

2.3 To Communicate with You (Performance of Contract & Legitimate Interest): We use your contact information (email, and if provided, phone) to send service-related communications. These include confirmations of transactions, receipts, critical account alerts (such as security notifications or changes to this Policy or our Terms), and customer support responses. Such communications are considered part of the Service. We may also send you announcements about new
features or updates to the Token platform, informational newsletters, or offers from KeepSolid; you can opt-out of non-essential communications like marketing at any time (see Section 4 on Your Rights).

2.4 For Customer Support (Performance of Contract & Legitimate Interest): When you reach out with questions, feedback, or issues, we use your information to assist you. This may involve reviewing your account and transaction history, device information (to debug technical problems), or the content of your communications to resolve any issues. We keep records of support interactions to improve our service and train our staff.

2.5 To Improve and Analyze the Services (Legitimate Interest): We want to improve our platform. We use data (mostly aggregated or pseudonymised) to understand usage patterns and the performance of our services. For example, we analyse which features users engage with most, how users navigate our site, or where they encounter errors. This helps us to optimise the user experience, plan new features and improve security. We may also use feedback or survey responses to measure customer satisfaction and improve our offerings. We have a legitimate interest in analysing and improving our Services and will take steps to protect your privacy (for example, by anonymising analytical data).

2.6 For Security and Fraud Prevention (Legitimate Interest & Legal Obligations): We process personal data to protect our users and our business from threats. This includes monitoring and analyzing activities for potentially fraudulent or illegal behavior (like money laundering or hacking attempts), and using device information to combat bots and abuse. If we suspect fraud or a violation of our Terms, we might use relevant data to investigate and take appropriate action (e.g., suspending an account).

2.8 Marketing and Promotions (Consent or Legitimate Interest): If you are an existing customer, we may send you marketing communications about similar KeepSolid products or Token-related updates under our legitimate interest to promote our Services, but you will always have the ability to opt-out. In other cases, we will seek your consent before sending you marketing emails or newsletters (for example, if you sign up to receive news). We might use
information like your email and possibly your preferences to tailor these communications to be more relevant. We do not sell your personal data to third-party advertisers. If we ever consider a new use of your data beyond what is outlined here, we will obtain the necessary consent or provide required notice.

2.9 Other Purposes: We may use information for purposes consistent with the context in which it was collected or with your consent. For instance, if you enter a contest or sweepstakes, we will use the data you submit to run the promotion (per any terms provided there). If we aggregate or anonymize data such that it can no longer identify you, we may use that for any purpose (e.g., publishing market insights or security trends) because it is no longer personal data.

3. How We Share Your Information

We value your privacy and do not sell your personal information to third parties. We only share information in the following circumstances

3.1 Service Providers (“Processors”): We share personal data with trusted third-party service providers who perform functions on our behalf, under our instructions and appropriate confidentiality and security obligations. These include:

  • Payment and Transaction Processors: As noted, if you purchase tokens through a payment provider (like Coinbase Commerce), that provider receives your payment details. Conversely, the payment provider provides us with info to confirm your payment. Similarly, if we use credit card processors or banking services, they receive the necessary data to process the payment (name, card info, billing address).
  • Cloud Hosting and IT Infrastructure: We use reputable cloud services (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or similar) to host our Services and data. Personal data is stored on their servers but under KeepSolid’s control. These providers may have access to data for storage and backup purposes.
  • Analytics Partners: We use analytics tools like Google Analytics; these involve sending pseudonymous usage data (like page views, IP addresses (masked), device info) to the analytics provider for analysis reports. We have appropriate data processing agreements in place as needed.
  • Email and Communication Tools: We use services to send out emails (such as an email newsletter service or customer support ticketing system). These services process your contact info and communication content to send or manage communications. For example, if we use SendGrid or MailChimp for emails, they will handle your email address and the content we send.
  • Customer Support Platforms: If our support is through a third-party helpdesk or chat service, the information you provide in support inquiries (and our communications with you) may be stored on their platform.
  • Auditors, Lawyers, and Consultants: We may share data with professional advisors if needed for auditing our business, legal compliance, or defending or exercising our rights (e.g., sharing relevant info with our attorneys in case of a legal dispute).

All such service providers are bound by contract to only use your data as needed to perform services for us and not for their own purposes (except as allowed under data protection law, such as for service improvement in anonymized form).

3.2 Affiliates: KeepSolid is part of a group of related companies. We may share your information with our affiliated entities (such as subsidiaries or parent company) for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy – for example, if our affiliate provides elements of the Service or if we consolidate data management. All affiliates will honor the commitments in this Policy.

3.3 Business Transactions: If KeepSolid is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of company assets, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction. We will ensure any such transfer is subject to
appropriate confidentiality protections. If a new entity will process your personal data, we will require them to honor the commitments of this Policy or provide you notice and opportunity to opt-out of the transfer.

  • Comply with a legal obligation or request: This includes responding to subpoenas, warrants, or court orders, or cooperating with lawful investigations. If a law enforcement request is received, we evaluate it carefully and only provide data if required by law. Wherever feasible and lawful, we may notify you of such requests.
  • Protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or others: This includes enforcing our Terms of Use or other agreements, investigating potential violations, detecting or preventing fraud or security issues, and addressing any situation involving potential threats to the rights or safety of any person.

3.6 Anonymized or Aggregated Data: We may share data that has been aggregated or anonymized (so it does not identify you personally) with third parties for any legitimate business purpose. For example, we might publish trends on how many users hold Tokens over time, or share aggregated usage stats with a research partner. This data will not include personal information.

3.7. International Transfers: Because our company is US-based (with operations possibly in other countries) and some of our service providers are global, the personal data we collect may be transferred to and stored in countries outside your own, including the United States or other jurisdictions that may not have the same level of data protection as your home country. If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK, know that we implement appropriate safeguards for cross-
border transfers as required by GDPR. This could include using European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses with our processors, or ensuring the recipient is certified under an approved framework (if applicable). By using the Services or submitting your information, you acknowledge this transfer, storing or processing.

4. Your Rights and Choices

You have various rights regarding your personal information based on your location. We are committed to honoring these rights. Below is a summary and how you can exercise them:

4.1 Access and Portability: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to obtain information about how we process it (Subject Access Request). We will provide this in a readily usable format. For EU users, you also have the right, where technically feasible, to have your personal data transferred to you or another controller in a machine-readable format (data еportability).

4.2 Rectification: If any of your personal information is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to ask us to correct or update it. Much of your basic account data can be edited by you directly in your account settings. For other updates, you can contact us.

4.3 Deletion (Right to be Forgotten): You can request that we delete your personal data. We will honor this request to the extent required by applicable law. For example, if you no longer wish to use our Services, you can ask us to delete your account information. Note that we may retain certain data
as permitted by law – for instance, records of transactions for legal compliance or internal business purposes (see Data Retention below). If we have to retain some data, we will inform you of that. Deletion of blockchain transaction data is generally not possible because those records are on a public ledger (outside of our control); however, we can delete information we hold that links you to those
addresses, to the extent possible.

4.4 Objection and Restriction:

  • Objection (EU/EEA users): You have the right to object to our processing of your data where we rely on a legitimate interest, especially for direct marketing. If we are processing your data for marketing, you can object at any time and we will stop (also effectively achieved by “unsubscribe” to marketing emails). If you object to processing based on other legitimate interests, we will evaluate your request and will comply unless we have compelling legitimate
grounds to continue or the processing is needed for legal reasons.
  • Restriction: You can ask us to restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances, for example, while we address a claim that the data is inaccurate (pending verification), or if you
want to preserve data for legal reasons but not have us otherwise process it.

4.7 Non-Discrimination (CCPA): If you exercise any of your privacy rights as a California consumer, we will not discriminate against you. This means we won’t deny you our Services, give you a different level or quality of service, or charge you different prices just because you made a privacy rights request.

4.8 Automated Decision-Making: KeepSolid does not currently make any automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on individuals using personal data. If we ever implement such processes, where required by law, you would have the right to have a human review an automated decision, contest it, or get an explanation of it.

4.9 Exercising Your Rights: To exercise any of the above rights, please contact us at [email protected] with your request. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request (to protect your privacy). For example, we may ask you to confirm some details we already have on file or log in to your account. In some cases, especially for extensive data access requests, we
might ask for further verification or a signed request. If you are an authorized agent making a request on behalf of someone, we will require proof of your authorization and the identity of the subject.

4.10 Complaints: If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint to your local data protection supervisory authority, but we encourage you to contact us first at [email protected] so we can address your concerns directly.

5. Data Security and Retention

You have various rights regarding your personal information based on your location. We are committed to honoring these rights. Below is a summary and how you can exercise them:

5.1 Data Security: KeepSolid takes reasonable and appropriate measures to protect the personal information we collect from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include encryption, access controls, network security, testing and training, and incident response.

Despite our efforts, no security measures are completely infallible. The internet by its nature cannot be guaranteed to be 100% secure. You also play a role in keeping your data secure: protect your account credentials, use a strong unique password, enable 2FA if available, and be cautious of phishing attempts. If you suspect any unauthorized access to your account or personal data, contact us immediately.

5.2 Data Retention: We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. In general:

  • Account Data: Information related to your account (name, contact info, settings) is kept as long as you have an active account. If you delete your account or it becomes inactive, we will delete or anonymize the data within a reasonable period after account closure, except where we need to retain it for legitimate reasons.
  • Transaction Records: We retain records of transactions (purchases, token transfers) and related personal data for at least the minimum period required by law. Financial records may be kept for e.g. 5-7 years for tax or regulatory reasons (depending on jurisdiction). Even if you delete your account, we might retain transaction ledger information in a secure archive to comply with audits or anti-fraud obligations.
  • Communications: Copies of business communications (support emails, in-app chat logs) may be kept for a few years after the communication, both to reference past issues and for training/quality assurance. If you want these deleted and they contain personal data, you can request erasure unless we need them for legal reasons.
  • Analytics Data: Analytics data is typically aggregated or anonymized over time. Raw logs may be rotated or deleted after a few months, while derived aggregate statistics may be kept longer.
  • Legal Holds: If we are under a legal obligation to retain data (for example, subject to a preservation order in litigation or investigation), or if the data is needed to resolve a dispute, we will retain the specific data as required until that obligation is lifted.

When we have no ongoing legitimate need to process your personal information, we will either delete it or anonymize it. If deletion is not feasible (for example, because the data is stored in off-site backups), we will securely store the data and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.

6. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 16. KeepSolid does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 (and in many jurisdictions, under 13) without verifiable parental consent.
